ReadWorks: Effective Literacy Website #7

ReadWorks.org is a very valuable resource, because ReadWorks is driven by cognitive science research, creating world-class content, teacher guidance, and and integrated tools that improve teacher effectiveness and student achievement. ReadWorks is committed to solving America’s reading comprehension crisis and student achievement gap. The non-profit organization partners up with K-12 teachers from all over the country to solve our nation’s literacy crisis. ReadWorks bridges the gap between research and practice in reading comprehension instruction, leveraging cognitive-science research to create high-impact instructional materials and tools. Over one million teachers and 13 million students  are using ReadWorks to improve teaching and the quality of learning in their classrooms daily.
ReadWorks Vision states “Every child in the United States  can read well with deep comprehension because all educators teach reading effectively with the superb reading content and curriculum they need.” The foundation for all learning and knowledge is reading comprehension. Students will apparently fail if they cannot read and comprehend what they are reading. Based on cognitive-science research, the vast majority of teachers have not been trained how to teach reading. What makes it worse is the widely utilized reading curriculum and materials are ineffective and truly low-quality.
ReadWorks provides educators the knowledge and pedagogy for reading comprehension success in our youth. When you sign up, you will have access to digital classes, printable worksheets, and projectable resources for classroom instruction.
