Internet Tool Review #1 by Alison: TeacherTube - Youtube for Teachers!

You read that right! TeacherTube is an awesome platform for teachers to discover educational videos that are beneficial for both teachers and students. Similar to Youtube, accountholders are able to upload videos. However, since TeacherTube is educational, the videos uploaded must be relevant to learning. In addition, members are also able to post constructive comments, rate videos, and even flag inappropriate videos to keep the website as a safe venue. This Internet tool was initially launched in March 2007. In September 2017, TeacherTube was obtained by Salem Web Network; their mission is to promote the evolution of TeacherTube and to support modern and innovative concepts for education. Members of the TeacherTube community play a large role in the evolution of this website as well. An increased amount of discussion and comments will increase the quality of the resources available on TeacherTube. It would be interesting to communicate with other educators from around the world.

Personally, I find TeacherTube to be quite simple and organized. I appreciate the many categories it offers. As I browsed the website, I noticed that only a few number of videos were available for certain categories. I do believe that educators need to be more aware of this website. As mentioned earlier, additional members in this online community will definitely boost the quality and quantity of its resources. Overall, TeacherTube is a very useful website for teachers, schools, and homeschooling that can be easily accessed worldwide. TeacherTube offers a variety of educational media such as videos, audio, and podcasts, resulting in interactive experiences for both teachers and students. This is important because technology is prevalent in today’s society and TeacherTube is definitely a resourceful online tool.
