Kick it With KidLitTV - Effective Literacy Website Review #7

KidLitTV is a fun and unique website that gives children a whole new literacy experience. Just how it sounds, it is a place to go to watch some cool videos based on storybooks. KidLitTV offers videos that showcases stories and their authors. There is also story read aloud videos and how to draw videos presented by illustrators of actual stories. The website even has book trailers so we can learn more about the newest books that are being released. KidLitTV offers new videos weekly, which is great so that you can always find something new whenever you visit the website.
There are other awesome things about KidLitTV too! If you don’t feel like watching the shows, there is KidLit Radio, which is a podcast version of the videos. It gives the option of just listening to the awesome stories that are a part of the website. A special tab brings you to a blog all about crafts and activities just for kids. There is tons of information about innovative games, songs, and digital tools that make learning fun. We can even find printables that we can use for our students. I also like that KidLitTV has a tab for grown ups such as parents or teachers who are just looking for anything new and trending regarding literacy.
This website may seem like it is really meant for children, but I find that it can be used for educators and parents who want to help kids build their love for reading. The website is easy to navigate and has great graphics that are engaging and eye-catching. I also like that the videos are professionally done and consistent with each other. Overall, KidLitTV is fun place to stop by when you are browsing the Internet for some children’s reading activities. It is all free and you might just find yourself watching some great TV!
