CASTANETO, Internet Tool #2 - Tripod

The Tripod website is a good resource to keep in mind if teachers are looking for a place to feature assignment overviews, rubrics, and general information about a class. It offers three site packages a user can choose from: "Free", "Personal" for $5.95 a month, or "Professional" for $11.95 a month. In my subject area, I feel that the free plan would best suit my needs if I needed a to build a website for my classes because I currently only teach one subject. This option offers 20 MB of website storage for one site, five themes, two powerful plugins, and email support from Tripod. However, if I were to teach two to three subjects the personal plan would be the better option. The personal plan offers 1 GB of storage for up to three ad-free sites, twenty-six themes, five powerful plugins, a form access builder as well as email and live chat customer support.
In my opinion, this is a good site to use for course overviews that include copies of project guidelines, rubrics, assignments, and course syllabus. That’s about all this site would be effective in doing, giving information. For educators who are short on time this site provides a very easy to use system with organizational options to optimize time and efficiency. In addition to the teachers convenience, this site will give students a chance to browse activities, resources, and course content with ease. If educators are looking for a website that can disperse and collect assignments from students this is not the site for you.
Lastly, the Tripod site offers an enticing layout. This site also allows teachers to create a virtual classroom of sorts and would also be a good resource to keep in mind in this ever-changing digital age. This site is clean without any unnecessary pictures or graphics and very user friendly.
