Effective Literacy Website #6

Rewordify (rewordify.com) is a literacy website that assists users in simplifying difficult text and teaches vocabulary. This literacy site would be geared more towards older students, such as middle school or higher. On this website, it allows the student to enter difficult text to be translated into simpler language. The translated words are highlighted so that students see the relationship between the words or phrases. The user is able to click on the highlighted word to hear the more difficult word, along with the definition. The student also has the ability to change the way the simplified text is highlighted to match student pace.

           Another feature of Rewordify is the learning session in which it delivers vocabulary lessons. The vocabulary is pulled directly from the difficult text that was inputted by the student, and the lessons are based off these words. The student has the opportunity to either learn all of the words, or select the specific words he/she would like to master. In these lessons, the user will hear the words, see the word being used, and assesses the user to see if he/she is able to use that word in different ways. These lessons move at the pace of the student for more meaningful learning.
