For my last internet tool review, I have chosen the site Thinkfree Office. This seems the site with the most pizazz out of the three. The layout is more inviting than the Tripod site and caught my eye immediately. Although this site is dressed up to be inviting, I found that it was also the most difficult site to navigate. I was under the impression that this would be another website making tool, but upon further investigation this site offers types of software that needs to be downloaded to your phone or computer. Think Free offers four different types of products including Neo, Mobile, Online, and Converter created to enable users to download and sync all Microsoft products.
The Thinkfree Office Neo version which features spreadsheets, graphic presentations, and calculations. This may be helpful for teacher who teach different levels of math, but seems more suited for accountants. The next option is the “Online” version, which is basically an online account for all of your Microsoft products such as excel and word and enables the user to access them from anywhere that has internet. Thinkfree Office Mobile ties into the online version as well, but is designated to be downloaded into your mobile device. This feature basically enables your phone to link into all your Microsoft Office files as well as content within the Microsoft database on your computer. Lastly, the Thinkfree Office Converter allows users to convert a variety of Microsoft documents into a variety of formats including PDF, JPG, and HTML. Keep in mind, all of these features come with a price starting at $49.99.
Overall, I believe this site would be useful for educators who want all of their documents conveniently available. Thinkfree Office would be effective in the sense that all Microsoft documents would be easy to store, locate, and organize. However, I do not think it has a greater impact on lesson development and planning than TeacherTube and Tripod. Personally, I wouldn’t spend a dime on this because I plan my lessons and activities ahead of time and don’t need last minute access to my documents.
