            K12 Reader has to be the best website to find supplemental resources for reading and language arts instruction. This website was founded by Jerry and Leanne Charles in 2008 with the intention of providing free resources for reading instruction for teachers as well as other parents. As parents of five children who all attended public schools, the idea for the foundation of this website stemmed from the realization of reading instruction as they watched their children grow. They realized that there was so much more to reading than what they actually know. In addition, they had the intention of helping other parents and teachers by providing supplemental resources and articles written by experienced former educators.
            Within K12 Reader, users may find printable resources for students ranging from kindergarten to the twelfth grade. As a plus, all of the supplemental resources provided are aligned to the Common Core Standards. The website is easy to navigate through with headings indicating pages for Theme, References, Blog, Articles, Resource, Lesson Templates, Graphic Aids, and Book Lists. In addition, Significant resources are easily accessible on the left-hand side of the website. Resources include Spelling Lists, Reading Skills, Grammar, Vocabulary, and Composition.
            K12 Reader provides lists of Spelling Words for first through fifth grade, as well as high school spelling words. In addition, there are resources for spelling patterns and rules. Under Reading Skills, K12 Reader provides resources covering topics of instruction from reading comprehension, figurative language, literature, main idea, making inferences, and many more. Under Grammar, resources include parts of speech, word usage, mechanics, punctuation, and sentence structure to name a few. K12 Reader also provides resources for Vocabulary listing Dolch sight words, Fry words, topics of phonetics, proverbs and adages, as well as prefix and suffix worksheets and so much more. Lastly, K12 Reader has a category for Composition resources that includes worksheets for editing and proofing, writing prompts, essay introductions, writing conclusions, transition words, and a few more.
            Resources mentioned above are just a few of what K12 Reader has to offer. There are several other resources that users can find on this website. Keep in mind, all the resources provided are free and do not need a membership account. In addition, users can also easily download these resources straight through their mobile devices for convenience. The amount of resources covering categories of reading skills, grammar, vocabulary, and composition are sure to be beneficial for teachers to use as supplemental resources to promote literacy in their classroom. In addition, there is a dedicated Book Lists page in which contains compilations of books easily organized into different categories from award winning books, to dinosaur books, mystery, non-fiction, and historical fiction books. K12 Reader is sure to be an important asset when it comes to providing supplemental resources to promote reading and literacy instruction.
